This educational activity was organised with the 6th Primary School of Serres students on Thursday, October 2, to celebrate World Day of Peace.

On Thursday, November 2, 2023, the Headteacher of the 6th Primary School of Serres, Karagiozis Ioannis, and the school's teachers' association participated in a welcome celebration for the refugee students from Ukraine and Iraq that the 6th Primary School of Serres welcomes every day.

These are students aged 6-12 who are accommodated in the Serres Refugee Accommodation Structure (EDPFAA Serres) with Refugee Education Coordinators Zoi Sidiropoulou, Georgios Porgiopoulos, Papacharalambous Charalambos – Panagiotis in charge.

The refugee students study in the reception classes of the Zone of Educational Priority (ZEP) to support the integration of these students who come from vulnerable social groups in the Greek school with the main object of learning the Greek language but also teaching support in other subjects, to their adaptation and stay in the general education system is facilitated.

Our school's actions for the supreme good of peace concerned the whole school community and were the following:

➢ Painting from classes A', B', and C' of primary school where the horror of war through the work of Pablo Picasso and Guernica contrasts with the dreams of our students for a peaceful world.

➢ Electronic questionnaires about peace were sent to parents, teachers, and school students

➢ The 5th-grade students performed the song "L'enfant de paix", by   Maurice Musvin.

➢ The 6th-grade students formed the peace sign with their bodies.

➢ The 6th-grade students approached the topic of peace through literature and art, creating posters and decorating the mythical shield of Achilles, half with images of peace and half with images of war.

The activity was coordinated by the teacher Elizabeth Kripa with the cooperation of teachers Markella Chrysikou, Vangelis Kaperdos, Maria Porphyri, Dimitrios Kostagiannis, Alexandra Mantzou, Ernesto Aggelis.

International Day of Peace at the Primary School of Portaria, Chalkidiki

On September 21, 2023, the sixth-grade students of our school carried out activities related to the International Day of Peace.

Our students made magnets with the peace sign and printed photos depicting Pablo Picasso's painting "The Child with the Dove", which conveys feelings of pacifism by sticking their face on the child's face.

Then, they planted an olive tree in the school courtyard to remind all their classmates that they should coexist peacefully.

Then, together with their classmates - of the 4th and 5th grades - they formed the peace sign with their bodies on the school courtyard.

The 3rd-grade students made bookmarks for Peace Day that will accompany them throughout the year! In the International Day of Peace context, the 4th-grade students created a collage.

In the end, they wrote a story with the "storyjumper" software entitled "The Man Who Wanted to Forget the War" to make reference to World Alzheimer's Day. The 5th-grade students created a construction representing the peace sign.

On the occasion of the action entitled "Embrace Peace" (8th Kifissia Board of Education - Unesco Collaborating Schools Network) and this year's theme of connecting Peace with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we created projects with the symbols of Peace (1st and 2nd classes with the international symbol and 3rd and 4th classes with the dove), as well as a collective poster project (5th and 6th classes on Peace and the common heritage of humanity.

For Peace

I dress in white

And dip into the paint.

I wear my white wings

And I travel in joy

From north to south

From west to east.

We are looking to find a way

so that Peace never "melts" on Earth.

Celebration of the World Day of Peace at the 2nd Primary School of Agios Nikolaos

                                     Erasmus, eTwinning and Unesco activities

The World Day of Peace celebration, on September 21, was established by the United Nations in 1981 to strengthen the message of prosperity and love throughout the planet.

Our students celebrate this great day with innovative activities with the help of their teachers and local organizations.

This year, at our school, the 2nd Primary School of Agios Nikolaos, the students helped so that peace would be associated with joy and creativity by drawing, composing poems and participating in field games.

At the Traffic Education Park, in collaboration with Mrs. Georgia Bolonaki, Chief of the Scouts of Agios Nikolaos, the children talked about peace.

They helped us with their ideas to understand that our participation in creative actions is the beginning of the well-being and happiness of all the people of our planet.

“Children are our fellow travellers on our journey of the Boy Scout System. In our Club, we organize weekend trips in nature so that children fully develop their physical, mental, social and spiritual abilities by participating in age-appropriate games. This year's Boy Scout motto, "Friends for real", encourages children of all ages to discover this extraordinary location.

The children can look for the activities in their neighbourhood's local Club, " explains Ms. Bolanaki. "It is our great pleasure to contribute to the dissemination of your school's Erasmus activities, but also to the activities celebrating Unesco's World Days", added the Scouts leader.

The action is part of the "Embrace Peace" awareness campaign of the 8th Primary School of Kifissia - a UNESCO ASPnet member school - and will be posted on a specially designed blog dedicated to the World Day of Peace.

It also frames our School's request for participation in the Unesco Schools Network as well as the activities for the Erasmus program "Live mobile, Eat healthy, catch quality" 2022-2024 for the fifth mobility of October in Adana, Turkey, as well as the eTwinning program "Spread the word" 2023 - 2024, in which our school is the creator.

The 2nd Primary School, through this year's collaboration with the Boy Scouts, Books on Wheels, as well as its membership in the Ecological Schools Network, participates in practice in defending the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, contributing to the creation of a better and more peaceful world.

The actions will continue during this school year.

I "FIGHT" THE WAR

Louder and more relevant than ever is the message inscribed by the students of the 1st High School of "De La Salle" College against war on the occasion of both the Lasallian Days of Peace and the celebration of the World Day of Peace.

They formed a peace sign with their bodies in their schoolyard, wanting to condemn the horrible and hideous face of war, to glorify the dire reality and shout that children are "fighting" war.

Their activity was completed with the active participation of all the students of all three departments in sports activities, sealing, in this way, friendship, collegiality and strong bonds between them.

The final product created by the students themselves is a video about their activities.

                               Representing war-representing peace

With the theme "1,2,3 Red Light!" we approached 16 adjectives determining warlike and peaceful moods.

The occasion was the vocabulary of the book "The War of Omegavita" by the author Evgenios Trivizas.

This experiential activity aimed for the 2nd-grade students to deepen and consolidate complex concepts and nuanced lexical differences.

The adjectives we worked on were the following:

a) for vocabulary related to war: armed, panicked, belligerent, haughty, greedy, suspicious, wounded, bereaved,

b) for peace-related vocabulary: praiseworthy, lovable, admirable, industrious, cheerful, kind-hearted, sorrowful, humble.

The specific adjectives were rendered in the form of still images.

In the next step, we tested the effectiveness of the pictures our students made: this time, the meaning had to be rendered extraverbally and turned into a word again.

The twinned 6th grade classmates were asked, seeing the picture, to identify the word in a reverse lexical immersion game, as they needed to use their observation skills to distinguish the differences between lovable, kind-hearted, painful, admirable, etc.

Overall, our students warmly received the activity and cultivated a vocabulary that the children will remember in the future.

Finally, the above activity was observed and applauded by the Western Thessaloniki Primary Education Advisor, Mrs. Dolkera, who noted that it was an excellent, experiential activity.

Peace is possible!

Our students, amid global instability and constant crises, remind us that the only way to achieve and maintain the supreme good of peace is to be willing to have a common approach and partnership.

Their weapon is their artistic creations for promoting the meaning of peace in the French class.

La paix est à notre portée!

in the 4th Primary School of Stavroupoli

This year, we wanted all the departments of our school to work together by initially creating constructions that refer to the global need for peace.

So, with the help of the art teacher, we made paper doves, the world symbol. We wanted to write PEACE in the courtyard with our bodies and our bags.

The children represent all the people of the earth who wish to live under the wings of peace.

For this reason, a large dove was built that carries the message of peace everywhere on earth.

A day of celebration for all ASPnet schools!

A day of celebration at the 8th Primary School of Kifissia!

International Day of Peace at the 8th Primary School of Kifissia

On Thursday, September 21, 2023, we celebrated the International Day of Peace, like every year, with our students who became "peace agents" and sent a unique message: "Embrace Peace!"

All together, dressed in white in a celebration with songs, lots of drawings, balloons, white balloons, presentations, poems, posters, constructions, lots of smiles and a spirit of cooperation and creativity!

Because peace is the only way to a better, fairer world for all people!

The coordinator for the actions within the ASPnet Network at the school, Vassia Chasioti, proposed, in the context of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the ASPnet-UNESCO Network, an awareness campaign entitled "Embracing Peace" regarding the celebration of the International Day of Peace.

The school's proposal is based on the common goal of the members of the Network worldwide: "to build the defences of peace in the minds of the young". Peacebuilding must be implemented in times of peace and not only when war conditions exist".

We invited the schools of the ASPnet UNESCO network to implement actions using the messages of our three students: "Students for Peace", "We are against all wars", and "All dressed in white! Peace for a better life!"

In our school, the dissemination of the action has already begun with the creation of an Instagram account (@peaceday8primkifissia) where the school's actions and the students' creations inspired by peace are displayed and disseminated.

As mentioned in the letter to the National Coordinator, Mrs Vera Dilari,

"We design and use all the students' ideas to enrich the celebration of Peace Day! Songs, dances, poems, theatrical events, constructions, painting...

This Day is an opportunity for all of us, students, teachers and teachers, to be inspired and to think creatively and collectively about how to change our world and ensure a fairer, equitable, peaceful and sustainable future with prosperity for all people."
